Trauma is a fact of life.
It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.

The Power of Dual Expertise:
Why Having a Therapist Who’s Also a Nurse Supports Nervous System Healing!
When it comes to healing trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress, nervous system regulation is key. And while many therapists are skilled in helping clients understand and shift emotional and behavioral patterns, having a therapist who is also a nurse adds an invaluable layer of knowledge—one that bridges the body and mind in powerful ways.
Understanding the Nervous System From the Inside Out
As a nurse, I bring a deep, clinical understanding of the body’s physiology—how stress hormones work, what’s happening in the vagus nerve during a panic attack, and how chronic dysregulation can contribute to everything from gut issues to fatigue. This knowledge doesn’t just stay in the background—it actively shapes the way I help clients work with their nervous system in therapy.
Instead of treating emotional symptoms in isolation, I look at the whole picture: How is your body responding? What are your stress responses trying to tell us? What practices will not just "calm you down," but actually support long-term regulation?
Trauma Lives in the Body
We now know that trauma is stored not only in the mind, but also in the body. A nurse-therapist brings medical insight into how trauma can manifest physically: chronic pain, autoimmune issues, tension patterns, or even mysterious symptoms that seem to have “no cause.” This body-informed lens allows for a more compassionate and accurate understanding of your experience—and a more integrative approach to healing.
A More Grounded Approach to Somatic Work
Somatic therapies, polyvagal theory, and nervous system regulation are gaining recognition—and for good reason. But without a grounded understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical systems, these practices can sometimes feel vague or even overwhelming.
As a nurse, I can help demystify what’s happening in your body. I can explain why that deep exhale works, what’s actually happening when you tremble or dissociate, and how to safely navigate somatic practices—especially if you have complex trauma or a medical history that needs to be honored.
Safety Is Everything!!!
When doing nervous system work, especially with trauma, creating a sense of safety is essential. Clients often feel reassured knowing their therapist has a nursing background. Whether it’s managing anxiety that mimics medical symptoms or understanding how medications may be interacting with mood, having a provider who can hold both your emotional and physical needs creates a deeper sense of trust and support.
In short, being both a therapist and a nurse allows me to meet you at the intersection of your emotional, physiological, and psychological experience.
This is where true regulation happens—not just learning to cope, but learning to live more fully in your body with a sense of safety, capacity, and connection.
